Big Kitchen Papers is a celebration business, providing invitations, ideas and paper products for events large and small.
It is a family affair, influenced by Aunt Lou, a little bit Grandma Sylvia, and a lot my mom.
I grew up in an Italian-American family where we celebrated everything, all the time; by that I do mean everything all the time! There was food, laughter, fun and connection and it was magical. I watched my mother and grandmother model the details of how to make the ordinary extraordinary. From them I learned the sauce is better when you simmer it longer. Taking time to do things right transforms your project from good to better, then best.
It was only natural for me in those early days, to meet clients in my kitchen, where we talked and dreamed about the upcoming first dinner party, the wedding next year, or the sweet baby shower, (pictured here), around the kitchen table. My job as I see it, is to make visually compelling invitations that are totally the client.
At the time Big Kitchen Papers opened in 2000 I didn’t realize that I had been preparing for this all my life; addressing my mother’s holiday cards, wrapping gifts, making cards for all occasions with my drawings, learning how to set a beautiful table, and working on good penmanship. My love for drawing, painting, folding and cutting came long before the art degree.
Let’s create, let’s celebrate! Life’s worth celebrating, don’t you think?
